To effectively set mine with middle pocket pairs, it is important to choose the right situations. You should look for loose and aggressive players who are likely to bet or raise pre-flop, as this increases the value of your potential set. This is because when you do hit a set, these players are more likely to continue betting, allowing you to extract maximum value from them.

It’s also essential to consider your position at the table. In early position, the risk of being outdrawn by opponents behind you is higher, so set mining with middle pocket pairs is generally more profitable in later positions. This allows you to see more actions from opponents before you act, giving you better information to make decisions.

Once you have identified the right situation and position, it’s time to set mine. You should aim to call the pre-flop raise rather than re-raise, as re-raising can signal the strength of your hand and scare off opponents. When the flop is revealed, you need to assess the texture of the board and the actions of your opponents.
