Dean Hutchinson is the latest to cash at multiple events this year
Dean Hutchinson decided against taking a break after winning $1,850,000 at the WSOP Main Event and headed to Coventry to buy into the £2,000 ($2,538) Goliath High Roller event, where he beat the field of 103 entrants to win £55,200 ($70,052).
This week’s Goliath High Roller had a £185,400 ($235,384) prize pool, shared among the top 11 finishers. Hutchison finished sixth at the recent 2023 WSOP Main Event.
Matthew Davenport took the Goliath GUKPT Main Event earlier in the week to win £116,200 ($147,465), his first six-figure cash, and finished in seventh for a £6,600 ($8,375) prize. Ravi Sheth took home the last four-figure prize of £8,900 ($11,294) and finished sixth.
Joe Newby was short-stacked and lost with his ace-trey against the ace-queen held by James Ivall. Newby came away with £12,300 ($15,609) to take fifth place. Ryan Otto was the next to be eliminated after holding king-jack and then losing a coinflip against Hutchison’s pocket sevens to finish fourth for £16,600 ($21,066).
Mitchell Speck turned a cashout satellite into his High Roller and turned it into £23,500 ($29,823) for third place. His exit put Hutchison heads-up against Ivall, who also satellited into this event.
Hutchison limped in with five-four on the final hand, with Ivall checking his jack-six. Ivall check-called a 100,000 bet on the flop of five-jack-four flop and again check-called for 350,000 after the turn was the three of clubs. Ivall would once again check as the queen of clubs showed up on the river, with Hutchison then going all-in. Ivall would call with his 1,600,000 stack, only to discover he had the losing hand.
Hutchison won £55,200 ($70,052) with the title, with Ivall winning £35,900 ($44,417) as runner-up, which was an excellent return on his satellite investment.
