Sanders battled a tough final table on her way to win $67,846
Tirza Sanders captured another major win this week by taking down the Ladies High Roller event at the LIPS Women in Poker Summer Festival in Las Vegas. The tournament, held at the Venetian and streamed live via the poker room’s YouTube channel, was part of a packed schedule during what’s become an unofficial “Ladies Week” in the city’s poker scene.
Sanders battled through a tough final table and eventually defeated Isabelle Dang in a lengthy heads-up match that lasted over three hours. The win earned her $67,846, while Dang walked away with $43,251 for second place. The final hand saw Sanders crack Dang’s pocket kings with queen-eight offsuit, sealing the victory dramatically.
This is Sanders’ second-biggest career score, just behind the $90,432 she earned when she won the 2024 World Poker Tour Ladies Championship. With this latest title, Sanders now has over $200,000 in lifetime tournament earnings, a milestone she wasn’t necessarily expecting to reach so soon.
Following her win, Sanders told organizers she plans to stay in town to play the $800 Ladies Mystery Bounty tournament at Aria and the $1,000 WSOP Ladies Event, which begins tomorrow. She also hinted that she might try her luck in the $10,000 WSOP Main Event, scheduled to begin July 2.
Sanders originally viewed the high roller as a warm-up or possible satellite for the Main Event, but with her recent run of success, she’s considering extending her trip. A deep run in the Main could keep her in Las Vegas well into July.
The LIPS Women in Poker Series has been a key part of growing women’s participation in poker, and Sanders’ back-to-back successes are sure to inspire others in the community. With more events still to come this summer, her story may not be finished yet.
