The controversial player was later released after questioning
Mikki Mase, a professional – and sometimes controversial – poker player who proclaims that he can beat baccarat, was detained by Los Angeles police on Sunday after officers apparently drew guns on him and three others.
The incident happened in LA’s Chatsworth neighborhood. None of the four individuals were arrested after being questioned by police. A five-minute video of the encounter was released on YouTube by KeyNews.
The video starts with Mase, who has appeared multiple times on Hustler Casino Live, walking towards the camera, saying, “Yeah, man, I just came out here trying to get back shots of the ghost of Charles Manson. Next thing you know, me and my buddies <expletive>, we see fireworks going off celebrating, we’re thinking it’s a good time and the cops get mad about it.”
Mase, who wore a Hustler Casino Live hoodie, then walked with three others past a police car before multiple officers approached and put them in handcuffs during questioning.
In a statement to the Los Angeles Times, Mase said, “We were not on private property. I saw a firework fired earlier in the night and thought it was weird, but thought if I lived out here I might do the same thing.” But he didn’t indicate why he was even in the area on Sunday. Although not shown in the edited video, Mase said police officers aimed their weapons at him and the other three men before detaining them.
This is definitely HCL’s fault too 😂https://t.co/4GAbr9MrAl pic.twitter.com/R6gbFpygMa

Nick Vertucci, co-owner of Hustler Casino Live, joked about the incident on X, saying his show was at fault because Mase’s HCL hoodie appeared in the article’s cover photo in the LA Times.
Residents in the Chatsworth neighborhood reported to police that they heard gunshots but could have been confused by the sound of fireworks. The investigation has apparently concluded with no arrests made.
