The card is graded PSA 10 Gem Mint by Professional Sports Authenticator
Ethan Yau, better known to fans as “Rampage,” has added a major collectible to his portfolio. The poker pro and YouTube vlogger announced on X that he purchased a rare Pokémon card for $340,000. The buy ranks among the highest publicly reported prices ever paid for a single Pokémon card.
I started this Pokemon card collection journey just 6 months ago in August, 2024. Ever since, I’ve been hooked getting back into this franchise I once loved as a kid. It started with late nights researching what cards existed, then being completely overwhelmed with the catalogue… pic.twitter.com/BhGyxZRIJL

The card is a 2005 Rayquaza Gold Star from the EX Deoxys set, graded PSA 10 Gem Mint by Professional Sports Authenticator. Only 47 copies hold that top grade, making it one of the scarcest modern-era Pokémon chase cards. Yau said that during months of research, this specific card stood out above all others.
He explained that he recently got back into collecting after rediscovering the franchise from his childhood. What began as late-night browsing turned into serious market research on vintage and modern releases. The more he learned, the more he focused on acquiring a high-grade example of the Rayquaza Gold Star.
Price comparisons show how fast the market has moved. Public sales data indicate a PSA 10 copy sold for around $34,200 in 2022. Demand for premium collectibles has increased sharply since then, pushing elite cards into six-figure territory. Yau made it clear he is not concerned about short-term price swings.
The purchase also connects to his poker persona. Yau previously hinted he might use the card as part of his bankroll strategy for a high-stakes appearance on Hustler Casino Live. Whether that happens remains to be seen.
High-end Pokémon sales have made headlines before, including a record deal involving Logan Paul and a rare Pikachu Illustrator card. Yau, an investor in The Lodge Card Club, says this purchase is personal. For him, the card represents passion and nostalgia as much as value.
