In line with previous years’ changes, only one person can be selected for the 2025 HOF
The race for the 64th member of the Poker Hall of Fame has officially begun, and fans once again have the opportunity to nominate their favorite poker figures. The World Series of Poker (WSOP) opened the nomination process to the public, inviting players and fans alike to submit names for consideration. This annual tradition continues to recognize the individuals who have significantly influenced the game—either on the felt or behind the scenes.
Submissions are open through June 15, with the final inductee to be announced on July 15, during the WSOP Main Event final table. Although only one nominee will ultimately be inducted, fan input plays a key role in shaping the list of finalists. The top ten fan-nominated names will be passed along to the Poker Hall of Fame Governing Council, and from there, current Hall of Fame members and select industry insiders will cast their votes.
To be eligible, a nominee must be at least 40 years old and have competed against elite-level competition, consistently played high-stakes poker, and earned the respect of peers over time. Longevity in the game matters, as does impact. For non-players, the criteria shift slightly—nominees must have significantly contributed to the game’s overall growth and left a lasting, positive legacy.
Last year, Finnish pro Patrik Antonius earned the honor after edging out notable names, including Josh Arieh, Kathy Liebert, and Matt Savage. His induction added another chapter to a list that includes legends like Doyle Brunson, Phil Ivey, and Daniel Negreanu.
The nomination form is now live on the WSOP website, giving poker fans a voice in who deserves the game’s highest recognition this year. With just one spot up for grabs, the debate over who should be next is already heating up across poker communities.
