The exclusive $1 million freeroll is open only to the top 40 eligible players of the year
British poker pro Patrick Leonard has locked in a major victory to start the year, taking down Event #2 of the PGT Last Chance series. Leonard earned $315,000 for his first-place finish in the $10,100 No-Limit Hold’em tournament held at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas. This win marks his second career PokerGO Tour title, following a similar victory almost exactly one year ago.
The tournament attracted 126 entries, creating a total prize pool of $1.26 million. Leonard began the final day as the chip leader and navigated a tough final table that included some of the game’s biggest stars. He eventually faced David Coleman in heads-up play, securing the win with ace-queen against Coleman’s king-high.
Aside from the prize money, the victory earned Leonard 315 PGT points, which skyrocketed his position on the tour leaderboard. He now sits in 27th place, making him a virtual lock for the season-ending PGT Championship. This exclusive $1 million freeroll is open only to the top 40 eligible players of the year.
Coleman, despite being low on chips early in the final table, managed to ladder up to a second-place finish for $195,300. His performance also moved him into the top 40 of the PGT standings. Other notable players who cashed at the final table included Nick Schulman, Jared Jaffee, and Joao Simao.
Current PGT Player of the Year Jeremy Ausmus finished in sixth place, earning $63,000 and 63 points. This moved him to 50th on the leaderboard, keeping his hopes alive for a late surge into the top 40. With several events remaining in the series, Ausmus still has a chance to defend his title in the upcoming freeroll.
