Jason Koon, Aleksejs Ponakovs and others are now getting ready for next month’s big poker tourney
December’s $1 million buy-in Big One for One Drop at the World Poker Tour (WPT) World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas has confirmed five more players who will sit down at the high-stakes event. Jason Koon will again bring his skills to the Big One For One Drop, while less-experienced high-stakes pros like Artur Martirosian, Orpen Kisacikoglu, Aleksejs Ponakovs, and Santhosh Suvarna will play at the Big One for the first time.
“The Big One is just over one month away, and exceptional entries continue to fill the seats of this one-of-a-kind event,” said WPT CEO Adam Pliska. “Jason is a well-respected member of the high-stakes community. We were honored to hear of his commitment.”
The total number of entries now stands at 13 as the newest players join Phil Ivey, Chris Brewer, Dan “Jungleman” Cates, Rick Salomon, Mikita Badziakouski, Nick Petrangelo, David Einhorn and Talal Shakerchi.
Koon is currently fourth in all-time live earnings, with $52.6 million, but didn’t cash at the 2018 One Drop. Although it’s their first time playing at the Big One, Ponakovs, Kisacikoglu, Martirosian and Suvarna all have over seven figures in live tournament earnings and will be tough competition for the tournament’s veterans.
“Our excitement grows each day as more entries come forward,” stated One Drop Foundation’s Chief Marketing and Events Officer, Alexandre Meunier. “It is amazing to welcome Aleksejs Ponakovs, Artur Martirosyan, Orpen Kisacikoglu, and Santhosh Suvarna as first-time participants in the Big One playing a crucial role in supporting One Drop Foundation’s water mission. The best of luck to all.”
