The victory came amid a record turnout that saw the guarantee almost double
Martins Adeniya secured the biggest win of his poker career at the Lucky Hearts Poker Open Main Event, taking home $512,600 after outlasting a competitive field of 1,162 entries. The $3,500 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em event, held at the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood in South Florida, concluded yesterday, and nearly doubled its $2 million guarantee with a prize pool of $3.7 million.
Adeniya, a seasoned pro from the UK with live tournament earnings dating back to 2009, added this win to an already impressive resume. The victory boosted his lifetime earnings to almost $2.3 million, surpassing his previous largest payout of $333,625 from a third-place finish at the 2023 Wynn Summer Classic.
Starting the final day as the chip leader, Adeniya navigated a challenging final table. Notable eliminations included Ricardo Eyzaguirre, who exited in ninth place with $56,000 after his suited king-queen couldn’t overcome Ryan Hogan’s ace-jack. Adeniya himself eliminated Kyle Taddei in seventh place for $92,000, with pocket nines holding strong against Taddei’s ten-nine.
The heads-up battle came down to Adeniya and Spencer Champlin, who had built momentum with multiple knockouts, including a dramatic rivered flush against Caio De Lucca in third place. Adeniya entered the heads-up duel with a slight chip advantage, and after a series of exchanges, the final hand saw Adeniya calling Champlin’s bluff with a heart flush, clinching the title.
Champlin walked away with $425,000 as the runner-up, while Adeniya not only earned the trophy but also 1,440 Card Player Player of the Year points, placing him at the top of the 2025 POY leaderboard. This victory marks a significant milestone for Adeniya and highlights his enduring presence in the poker world.
