The win was the first WSOPC title for Tsui and came following a record turnout
Justin Tsui emerged victorious at the 2025 WSOP Circuit Marrakech Main Event, claiming his first WSOPC ring and a career-high cash prize of 2,700,000 MAD (US$270,000). The event set a new record with 1,523 entries, generating a prize pool of over 19 million MAD (US$1.9 million). This triumph marked a memorable return to Morocco for Tsui, who hadn’t visited the country since a trip as a tourist a decade ago.
Tsui decided to participate last minute, arriving on Thursday and reentering after an early elimination. A smooth Day 2 saw him advance to Day 3, where he relied on strategic decision-making influenced by ICM considerations.
With a careful approach, he preserved his chips against shorter stacks, eventually shifting to a more aggressive style during three-handed and heads-up play. His adaptability paid off, earning him the prestigious title.
The final day began with 29 players, with Anthony Apicella as the chip leader. However, his departure in 13th place paved the way for Tsui’s ascent. The final table was action-packed, starting with four players holding less than ten big blinds. Notable eliminations included Dinesh Alt in seventh place and Ina in sixth, both at the hands of Aitor Cruz, who dominated the table early on. Tsui gained momentum after a crucial coin flip against Mathieu Choffardet and took the chip lead.
The heads-up battle between Tsui and Spanish player Gandalf was brief, with Tsui sealing the victory in just a few hands. His win also secured a spot in the next WSOP Tournament of Champions, adding another milestone to an already impressive poker career. Reflecting on his decade of playing poker, Tsui expressed pride in achieving a long-standing dream at such a competitive event.
