Cristos could spend up to 48 months behind bars for his recent attacks
Professional poker player Jordan Cristos has been sentenced to between 14 and 48 months in prison by a Nevada judge after pleading guilty to attempted stalking using electronic communication. District Judge Monica Trujillo delivered the sentence, citing Cristos’ repeated pattern of harassment and defiance of court orders. “I am extremely concerned by your prior history, by your repetitive behavior,” Trujillo said during the hearing, emphasizing that previous counseling and intervention had failed to deter his actions.
Cristos, 38, entered an Alford plea in September, acknowledging that prosecutors had sufficient evidence to convict him while not admitting direct guilt. The case centered around threats made against Family Court Judge Regina McConnell and World Poker Tour CEO Adam Pliska.
McConnell had presided over a child custody dispute involving Cristos, while Pliska was allegedly targeted in a separate online harassment campaign. Prosecutors said they would not oppose probation if Cristos served 180 days in jail, though Judge Trujillo opted for a longer sentence given his record.
Under the plea agreement, Cristos stipulated to having the charge treated as a felony, but may later have it reduced to a gross misdemeanor if he successfully completes probation. At the time of sentencing, Cristos was held at the Clark County Detention Center.
In court, he apologized, saying, “I’m very sorry for my behavior and what’s happened in the past, and I promise it will never happen again.” His defense attorney, Cherae Muije, argued that the 126 days Cristos had already spent in custody and his separation from his children had deeply affected him.
Prosecutor Laura Rose raised additional concerns, noting Cristos allegedly violated a prior no-contact order by sending her an email titled “Wrongfully Incarcerated” that included court documents. Judge Trujillo said this conduct influenced her decision, reinforcing that repeated defiance of court restrictions warranted prison time
