Oya picks up $2.9 million and his first bracelet after beating the high-rolling regular

Masashi Oya has won the $2.9 million top prize at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) $100,000 Ultra High Roller at Atlantis Bahamas after battling past eight established pros who played their best poker at the final table.

With $24 million in tournament cashes, Danny Tang would be the first to fall in eighth place, adding another $336,000 to his winnings. Ben Heath was next to go home and is now approaching the $20 million mark in lifetime tournament winnings. He would finish seventh for $430,000 when his pocket aces when down after Oya hit a runner-runner straight.

Ivan Luca, number two on the all-time Argentina money list, ran deep in three December high-roller events, finishing 12th both times before taking sixth place in Paradise for $555,000 to put him over the $7 million mark for his career.

Nick Schulman brought his five WSOP bracelets and $17 million in career earnings to this final table but would settle for fifth place and $731,000. Quan Zhou was also looking to push his lifetime tournament earnings over $7 million with his fourth-place finish. He took the October EPT Mystery Bounty in Cyprus for $283,623.

Leon Sturm took down his best career cash of $1,546,000 after winning the $50,000 High Roller in Las Vegas this summer and picked up another million-dollar cash for third place of $1,322,000.

Jason Koon would fall in heads-up play after only a few hands, with both players holding a straight on the final hand and Koon having the baby end. The $1.8 million second-place prize puts him over $55 million in tournament cashes.

Oya takes his first WSOP bracelet and $2.9 million, pushing his winnings to over $5.5 million for his career.
