Isaac Haxton takes down the Super High Roller Bowl

The poker pro is on a solid run and adds another $2.76 million to his stack of winnings

Isaac Haxton continues adding to his winnings during the best year of his poker career, taking the Super High Roller Bowl championship after beating Andrew ‘Chewy’ Lichtenberger heads-up for $2.76 million last night in Las Vegas. The two Americans fought it out after the short-stacked Lichtenberger almost eliminated Haxton’s huge overnight chip lead.

Bryn Kenney was the first to be eliminated, finishing two places outside the money in sixth place after his pocket threes couldn’t hold off British Poker Masters winner Stephen Chidwick, who paired his king on the river.

Chris Brewer would finish in fifth place after pushing in his last 695,000 chips with pocket aces against Lichtenberger’s KS, 10S. The flop gave Chewy a pair of kings but also a flush draw with two more spades to make him the favorite to win. The A of spades on the turn gave him the nuts while also putting all remaining players into the money.

Jason Koon cashed $600,000 in fourth place after suffering the same fate as Brewer with his pocket kings. Chewy’s J-10 became a straight on the turn after Koon flopped his set of cowboys. A three on the river took play down to three-handed.

Chidwick was the next to go home after flopping top pair, but Chewy would make two pair on the turn, which held to send home the British pro in third place for $960,000.

Heads-up play between Haxton and Lichtenberger was even until the former took down a huge pot after hitting a flush on the turn to take a massive chip lead. He would finish off Chewy in second for $1.68 million a few minutes later to win the 2023 Super High Roller Bowl Championship.
