The long-time Triton fixture won his first title at the $100K PLO Main Event
Isaac “Ike” Haxton has finally broken through on the Triton Poker stage. After years of close calls and a reputation as one of the most consistent performers on the high-roller circuit, Haxton secured his first Triton title in Jeju, South Korea, at the $100,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Main Event. The long-awaited win came after 64 career cashes and 34 final table appearances on the tour, with Haxton defeating Argentina’s Nacho Barbero heads-up to take home $2,789,000.
For nearly a decade, Haxton carried the unwanted distinction of being the most accomplished Triton regular without a trophy. That streak began in 2016 at the Super High Roller Series Manila and included six runner-up finishes along the way. Now, the 38-year-old adds a Triton trophy to his already stellar résumé, which also includes ending another career drought in 2023 when he finally captured his first World Series of Poker bracelet.
The final table in Jeju featured some of the world’s toughest names, but Haxton’s patience and deep-stack skill set proved decisive. By the time he reached heads-up play against Barbero, Haxton held a commanding chip advantage. The final hand highlighted his aggressive but calculated style. Barbero moved all-in with top pair after the turn, but Haxton, holding multiple draws, quickly called. A rivered straight sealed the victory and ended years of Triton frustration.
Despite the milestone, Haxton remained characteristically modest in his post-game interview, remarking that with so many final tables under his belt, it was inevitable that one would eventually go his way. His ten cashes during the Jeju stop alone reflect both his endurance and consistency in elite company.
With the win, Haxton joins an exclusive group of players who have triumphed on both the WSOP and Triton stages, further solidifying his reputation as one of the most versatile and respected professionals in modern poker.
