The Poker Hall of Famer shows his skills once again at the felt
Poker Hall of Famer Erik Seidel clamped down his tenth World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet after winning the $50,000 Super High Roller at the WSOP Paradise at the Atlantis Resort in The Bahamas.
He joins a small group of poker legends with ten bracelets, including Phil Ivey, Johnny Chan and the late Doyle Brunson. Phil Hellmuth is the only player with more than Seidel, with 17 bracelets.
When speaking about his victory in a post-tournament interview, Seidel conveyed the joy of reaching the elusive double-digit bracelet landmark. “Any time you win a bracelet is just an incredibly special thing. To get to ten, I don’t know, it’s a beautiful feeling. It’s just so nice when things go well like this.”
The $50,000 Super High Roller event drew a challenging field of 137 players and a considerable $6,850,000 prize pool, with 21 players finishing in the money. Seidel met stiff challengers at the final table, including prominent players like Alex Foxen, Jason Koon and Seth Gottlieb, who finished in second place.
This win symbolizes more than just a financial gain for Seidel. It’s his first live bracelet win in 16 years. Seidel was also awarded a $25,000 bonus from GGPoker for reaching his third WSOP final table of 2023, displaying his prowess on the high-stakes circuit. He won his first bracelet in 1992 and has affirmed his position as one of the best players in poker history.
“I’m still trying to keep up with these guys. I’m talking to people, working hard, and playing… Part of it is just I love the game. I love to wake up and play, so hopefully, I can keep that enthusiasm,” Seidel stated, implying more poker conquests in the future.
