Daniel Negreanu finds success and takes down one of the best in the poker space
Daniel Negreanu secured another impressive victory on Sunday, taking down the $10,100 Pot-Limit Omaha event on the PokerGO Tour. The tournament, held at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas, saw Negreanu outplay a stacked field of 104 entrants to claim a top prize of $265,200. His final opponent was none other than Alex Foxen, one of the most successful poker players in the world.
The tournament’s prize pool reached $1,040,000, and the final table was filled with some of poker’s elite. Alongside Negreanu and Foxen were big names like Nacho Barbero, Nick Schulman, Jeremy Ausmus, and Matthew Wantman. The six finalists brought a combined 20 World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets to the table, with Negreanu leading the pack with seven.
Day 2 began with Foxen holding a slight chip lead over Negreanu. However, by the time heads-up play started, Negreanu had built a commanding 3-1 chip advantage. Foxen, known for his resilience, briefly narrowed the gap to 2-1.
However, his momentum was short-lived when he ran tens full of aces into Negreanu’s stronger queens full of aces, ending the match. Foxen took home $171,600 for his second-place finish, pushing his career earnings past $33.5 million.
Negreanu’s win marks his fourth high-roller victory of 2024 and his first since June, when he ended an 11-year WSOP bracelet drought by winning the $50,000 Poker Players Championship. His performance this year is a notable rebound after a difficult 2023, where he posted a $2 million loss. With multiple final tables and a series of deep runs already under his belt in 2024, Dnegs is showing that he remains a dominant force on the high-stakes poker scene.
