81 total entries for the $200K buy-in event pushed the prize pool to the limit
The Triton Poker Super High Roller Series wrapped up another high-roller event with David Yan taking the $200,000 NLH 8-Handed tournament title after three-way play against Nacho Barbero and 2022 WSOP Main Event winner Espen Jorstad.
The event saw 51 entries and 30 additional reentries to raise the final number to 81 and create a $16,200,000 prize pool shared among the top 13 finishers. Juan Pardo was the short stack and finished eighth after going all-in with king-six but couldn’t improve vs. Yan’s king-ten. Brewer was the next to leave after losing most of his stack when he was out-flipped by Timothy Adams. Shortly after, Danny Tang took him down to bring the table to six players.
Yan then eliminated Aleksejs Ponakovs in sixth place, with Tang picking up the first seven-figure payout of the event after finishing fifth to win $1,247,000. After discussing a possible deal, the players returned with Barbero gaining half the chips after taking down Adams, who took home $1,550,000 in fourth place.
The final three then struck a deal, with Barbero taking the biggest chunk of the prize pool. The Argentinian was guaranteed $3,445,807, while Yan and Jorstad would take $2,952,002 and $2,766,191, respectively. That left $100,000 for the trio to battle for, along with the trophy.
Yan had a slim advantage over Barbero heads-up after the former beat Jorstad’s pocket queens with pocket nines. The chip lead changed several times before Yan secured the win with his ace-four versus king-six that held through the river. Yan’s first Triton title boosted his purse to $3,052,002.
