Danny Tang is the Triton king, winning four titles this year

The player from Hong Kong had never won a Triton event until now

Danny Tang began 2023 without a single Triton Poker title on his resume. The Hong Kong native and World Series of Poker bracelet winner came close on a couple of occasions,
including two runner-up finishes in 2019 and 2022. He finally broke through and secured his first win on the high-stakes tour. In March, Tang got his first win on the tour in a $25,000 short deck event at the Triton Vietnam, which was just the beginning of a hot streak that would earn him three more Triton titles.

Tang secured his fourth win of the year on Tuesday, August 8, coming out on top in the 2023 Triton Poker Super High Roller Series London $60,000 eight-max No-Limit Hold ’em event to win $1.6 million. The victory ties him with Phil Ivey and Mikita Badziakouski for second in total Triton titles, only behind eight-time event winner Jason Koon.

His lifetime tournament earnings have surpassed $18.7 million, with almost $10 million coming from the 21 lifetime cashes in Triton events. After his first win in March and before his recent victory, he claimed a $50,000 No-Limit Hold ’em turbo event and won the $50,000 short deck main event at the Triton Cyprus series for a combined $1.3 million.

“I don’t know what to say, I really don’t know what to say,” Tang said after his most recent win. “I think I’ve played pretty much the same. I’ve maybe improved a bit, playing with these guys every day, you’re going to improve. But I wouldn’t say my skill level has improved dramatically compared to six months ago.”

Bruno Volkmann would finish second to Tang, earning his first career seven-figure live tournament payout of $1,080,000.
