Dnegs came in second to Ryan Bambrick in the $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship
Daniel Negreanu’s pursuit of an eighth World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet came up just short in Event #9: $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship, where he finished second to Ryan Bambrick in a highly anticipated final table. Bambrick walked away with his second WSOP title and a career-best $470,437 payday, while Negreanu earned $313,615 for his runner-up finish.
The event attracted a record-breaking 217 entries, generating a prize pool of over $2 million. With top-tier names like Negreanu and Viktor “Isildur1” Blom in the mix, the final table drew plenty of attention. Bambrick, who previously won a bracelet in 2018, made the most of his second WSOP final table appearance by taking control early and never letting go.
When play began, Blom led the chip counts, with Bambrick and Negreanu close behind. Bambrick gained momentum by winning a crucial hand against Blom early, and from there, he consistently chipped away at his opponents. Blom eventually bowed out in fourth after a tough run, continuing his own search for a first bracelet.
Negreanu, known for his deep runs and resilient play, managed to hold his ground and eliminate Ofir Mor to reach heads-up play. Despite entering with a significant chip deficit, he chipped away and briefly narrowed the gap. However, Bambrick kept pulling ahead, consistently finding premium hands and making the most of his position.
The final blow came when Negreanu was all-in with trips on the turn, only to be outdone by Bambrick’s full house. Without help on the river, Negreanu was eliminated in second place.
While the result wasn’t what Negreanu had hoped for, his strong showing reinforces his consistency at the game’s highest level. Meanwhile, Bambrick adds another bracelet to his collection, solidifying his place in WSOP history.
