Vitch turned the $1,000 buy-in into $262K

Christopher Vitch clinched his third gold bracelet at the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Event #48: $1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha hosted at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas. He emerged victorious among 2,212 entries to secure the biggest cut of the $1,946,560 prize pool.

Vitch earned $262,734 for first place, with Thomas Taylor coming up short of his first gold bracelet to take home $175,179 as runner-up.

While known for his prowess at mixed-game poker variations, Vitch has also demonstrated his abilities playing Pot-Limit Omaha. “I’m not as experienced in PLO, so I just relied on my instincts,” he commented.

Vitch started the final day second in chips behind two-time bracelet winner David Prociak but soon pulled away from the pack and never relinquished the lead.

Germany’s Christopher Frank ($29,740) was the first of the eight players eliminated after Taylor took his remaining two big blinds.

Vitch was dominant throughout the day, including an important hand during Level 30, where he flopped a full house to steal a big chunk of Prosiak’s chips.

Kharlin Sued (7th for $38,877) was the next player to the rail before Vitch continued his run by eliminating Ioannis Angelou Konstas (6th for $51,396) and Jay Harwood (5th for $68,702).

Joe Firova of the US fell in 4th place for $92,850.

Prociak and Taylor had similar chip stacks starting three-way action. Prociak was eventually eliminated after running into Taylor’s pocket kings to take home $126,853 for third place.

As heads-up play began, Vitch led Taylor nearly 3 to 1 in chips. They went back and forth, with Taylor gaining some ground after winning several pots. However, his tournament ended after he lost on the river to a higher flush on the final hand.
