Chad Eveslage is lighting up the poker tables this year

The poker veteran is off to a strong start this year and could be the WSOP Player of the Year

The 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) has only been underway for a little over a week, yet the top contenders for Player of the Year have already emerged. Last year’s title holder, Dan Zack, faces an arduous challenge to defend his crown as Chad Eveslage has already established himself as a formidable opponent, dominating the competition.

Eveslage took down the WSOP $1,500 Dealer’s Choice event, adding $131,879 to his bank. He turned right around and entered the $10,000 Dealer’s Choice event, which proved to be a smart decision.

The veteran poker player outlasted a field of 130 players to secure the third bracelet of his career, which earned him a cool $311,428. With that, Eveslage has achieved a score of 1,948 points for the WSOP Players of the Year.

Another contender, Tyler Brown, emerged victorious in the $1,000 Mystery Millions and is Eveslage’s closest competition. He currently has 1,739 points.

At the onset of the series, Eveslage was the main protagonist, bringing back memories of 2016’s Jason Mercier for poker enthusiasts. During a brief spell in mid-June seven years ago, he triumphed with two bracelets and also made it to two other final tables. His performance was so remarkable that he was recognized as the Player Of The Year.

The 2023 race is only just now beginning, so there’s still a lot of competition ahead. However, if Eveslage can keep up his performance, there’s a good chance he’ll be this year’s big winner.
