Alejandro Lococo earned his first WSOP bracelet and $12 million with the victory
Argentine freestyle rapper and poker player Alejandro Lococo, better known as “Papo MC,” secured a monumental victory at the inaugural WSOP Paradise Triton Million Invitational. The South American artist will not return to his country with empty hands after having shown a great performance at the poker table full of pros.
Held at Atlantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas, the $500,000 buy-in event saw Lococo outlast a competitive field of 96 entries to claim his first WSOP gold bracelet and a $12,070,000 prize. This win marks the largest poker payday of 2024 and catapults Lococo into second place on Argentina’s all-time money list, trailing only Jose “Nacho” Barbero.
Lococo’s previous top performance came in 2021 when he finished seventh in the WSOP Main Event, earning $1,225,000. His latest triumph brings his lifetime poker earnings to nearly $14.9 million.
Speaking after his win, Lococo expressed gratitude to his supporters, including his parents, who were present at the event. “It feels amazing. This was my first $500k buy-in, and I’m overwhelmed—it’s like I’m dreaming,” he shared during the post-tournament broadcast.
The event featured a $48 million prize pool and began with a unique format, dividing amateurs and the professionals they invited into separate fields on Day 1. By the final day, 14 players remained, all guaranteed a payout. Notable names such as Stephen Chidwick, Adrian Mateos, and Daniel Dvoress were among those who cashed but fell short of the title.
In heads-up play, Lococo faced England’s Ben Heath. Lococo held a commanding chip lead, which he maintained despite Heath’s brief comeback. The decisive hand saw Lococo’s king-deuce outflop Heath’s ace-king, securing the championship. Heath earned $8,160,000 as the runner-up, his best career finish.
This career-defining win not only solidifies Lococo’s status as a poker star but also highlights the expanding intersection between the worlds of music and poker.
