The Hungarian poker pro overcame a tough heads-up battle to secure the win
Andras Nemeth secured his fifth European Poker Tour (EPT) title with an impressive victory in the €10,200 (US$10,812) Mystery Bounty event at the PokerStars EPT in Prague. The Hungarian pro walked away with a total of €132,980 (US$140,959), which included bounty winnings, after overcoming a competitive field of 42 entries that generated a prize pool of €406,980 (US$431,399).
The final day of the event showcased Nemeth’s expertise as he entered Day 2 as the chip leader and maintained a commanding presence throughout. In a crucial three-handed play, he made a bold river call that cemented his position.
Despite a resilient effort from Michail Manolakis, who managed two double-ups during their heads-up duel, Nemeth remained composed and claimed the victory. Manolakis earned €89,300 (US$94,658) for his runner-up finish, significantly surpassing his prior lifetime earnings.
Nemeth credited his focus and ability to stay level-headed for his success, especially during key moments when the momentum shifted. Reflecting on his pivotal river call, he explained that his decision was based on a combination of theoretical understanding and reading his opponent’s bluff frequency.
The event drew attention with its bounty element, which added an extra layer of excitement. Early eliminations included notable players like Sonny Franco and Steve O’Dwyer, while the final table featured a mix of talent. Nikita Kuznetsov, who started strong, exited in third place when his push from the small blind ran into Nemeth’s ace-high.
Heads-up play saw Nemeth start with a slight lead, lose ground, and then recover by calling a bluff and hitting an ace on the turn to seal the win. His latest EPT triumph adds to an already amazing poker career and highlights his ability to excel under pressure in high-stakes tournaments.
