The long-time poker pro adds another WSOP title to his growing collection
Alex Foxen is closing out 2024 in dominant fashion, further solidifying his place among poker’s elite. The 33-year-old American pro has had a remarkable year, making 20 final tables in Card Player Player of the Year (POY)-qualified events and capturing three titles. His latest triumph came in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Paradise $100,000 buy-in Triton No-Limit Hold’em main event, where he secured his third career gold bracelet and $3.85 million in prize money.
This win, which featured a field of 182 high-stakes competitors, marked Foxen’s second-largest career cash and pushed his lifetime tournament earnings past $43.1 million. He now ranks 15th on poker’s all-time money list, becoming just the 18th player to surpass the $40 million milestone. It also capped off a stellar year that saw him claim another WSOP bracelet in the Online $500 mystery bounty six-max event earlier this fall.
Foxen’s success isn’t limited to the WSOP. This was his second Triton Poker win of 2024, having previously taken down a $50,000 buy-in event in Monte Carlo for nearly $1.5 million. Additionally, he earned a sixth-place finish in the Triton $500,000 Million event just days before his main event victory, adding $2.79 million to his earnings. In total, Foxen now boasts four multi-million-dollar tournament scores in his illustrious career.
The WSOP Paradise event, held at Atlantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas from Dec. 10-12, attracted a massive 182 entries, generating an $18.2 million prize pool. The top 31 players cashed, with notable names such as Justin Bonomo, Jason Koon, and Stephen Chidwick making deep runs. Foxen’s win not only secured him a significant payday but also earned him 1,680 POY points, moving him into fifth place in the 2024 standings sponsored by Global Poker.
Foxen’s accomplishments in 2024 underscore his consistency and dominance in high-stakes tournaments. With two WSOP bracelets this year, including his $100,000 main event win, and his second Triton victory, Foxen has demonstrated why he remains one of the game’s top competitors. As he reflected on his success, Foxen highlighted the significance of trophies like WSOP bracelets and Triton titles in measuring a player’s legacy.
Beyond his individual achievements, Foxen shares a unique milestone with his wife, Kristen, who also secured a bracelet this year, bringing her career total to five. Together, the Foxens continue to leave an indelible mark on the poker world. As 2024 draws to a close, Alex Foxen’s incredible run cements his reputation as a powerhouse on the live tournament circuit.
