A solid performance at the recent PGT Last Chance event pushed Foxen over the top
Alex Foxen has been crowned the 2025 PokerGO Tour Player of the Year after a dramatic finish to the season. Rather than relying on late points or a small cash, Foxen secured the title by winning the final ranking event on the schedule.
The decisive moment came in the $10,100 PGT Last Chance event, where Foxen claimed the trophy and $232,400 in prize money. That victory allowed him to leapfrog Sam Soverel at the top of the leaderboard and lock up the season-long honor on the final night.
The win marked Foxen’s 12th career PokerGO Tour title and his fifth victory of the 2025 season alone. His consistency across high-stakes events once again highlighted why he remains one of the most reliable performers on the tour.
With the Player of the Year title secured, Foxen will enter the upcoming $1 million PGT Championship freeroll in a strong position. He leads the standings with 350,000 starting chips, giving him a significant edge over the rest of the field. The lowest-ranked qualifiers will begin with roughly one-third of that stack.
The PGT Championship has a history of rewarding players who carry momentum into the event. Last season, Jeremy Ausmus converted a similar situation into a title win after topping the leaderboard earlier in the week.
The final top 10 standings featured several familiar names from the high-roller scene. Michael Mizrachi, Nick Schulman, and Stephen Chidwick all remained in contention deep into the season.
Kristen Foxen also finished inside the top 10, adding to a year that included major Global Poker Index honors. Jesse Lonis rounded out the group after securing CardPlayer Player of the Year, closing a competitive and talent-filled 2025 PGT season.
