Bin Weng started the year strong and never looked back
Chinese-American poker player Bin Weng has been dominating the live poker tournament stage in 2023. Weng moved to the US when he was 18 and is the co-owner of a small Chinese restaurant on Long Island.
He started playing poker around 2008 and has now been playing at the tables for nearly a decade. After deciding to try live tournaments in 2017, he has become one of poker’s most feared opponents.
Weng’s stellar year started at the Borgata Casino in The Return: A Borgata Championship Event, with a $5,300 buy-in and a $3 million guarantee that would be his biggest cash to date.
The prize pool ultimately surpassed the $5 million mark, and after a heads-up deal, Weng took home exactly $1 million.
Just six weeks later, Weng would win a World Series of Poker Circuit event in Las Vegas, adding almost another quarter-million to his tally.
Weng would take several small cashes over the next few months but would win big again at the $3,500 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown for $1,128,250. A week later, he finished fourth at the WPT event in Choctaw for $143,000.
Weng would pick up another $145,000 after finishing second at The Lodge Card Club $25,000 High Roller to Alex Foxen.
He would end the first half of the year with a win at the WPT’s inaugural EverOne for One Drop at the Wynn Las Vegas to take home $2,227,054 for his third seven-figure cash in six months, which got the attention of the poker community.
Weng would then extend his streak after winning the WPT $25,000 High Roller at Wynn Las Vegas for $958,279 and his first high roller win while increasing his career earnings to over $8.5 million.
