The ongoing WSOP series has already awarded three bracelets, with more to come
The three World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet events held this month on WSOP.ca had consistently high turnouts of about 800 to 2,000 entrants. They represented the best opportunities for Ontario poker players to earn a bracelet without leaving home.
Many Day 1 flights are available on WSOP.ca before the tournament wraps up. Three bracelets have been awarded so far out of the eight total events, giving Ontario players a chance to sign up for five more events on WSOP.ca.
The series began with Mahmut “PokerKeeng” Zor taking down Event #1: $300 Gladiators of Poker Ontario Opener for CAD38,304 (US$28,221).
Zor was far from finished after winning The Opener. He was already playing Event #2: $210 Mystery Millions by the time he put his first bracelet on his wrist, making the final table of the mystery bounty event to finish ninth for CAD2,754 (US$2,029), not including bounties. He also became one of the rare players to make final tables in back-to-back WSOP events.
The fight for Ontario’s second 2023 WSOP Online bracelet started with Hyundong “fishw33d” Kim taking a total of CAD34,888 (US$25,704) US for his first-place finish, including bounties.
Justin “Justin Ouimette” Ouimiette won Event #3: $100 Ontario MILLION$ Mini Main Event for CAD25,369 (US$18,691) after facing Shahraz “Kyle Gene” Khan heads-up. On the final hand, Ouimette picked up the AD, 9D on the button and raised to 525,000 chips.
Khan moved all-in with his KC, QS. However, Ouimiette’s hand would hold up as the board ran out 7D, 10C, 2S, 3S, and 2H, with Khan collecting CAD19,029 (US $14,020) as runner-up.
