The turnout for the tournament pushed the purse to over $7.5 million
The 2023 World Series of Poker Europe at King’s Resort in Rozvadov, Czech Republic, has been a major success, with record-breaking guarantees in tournaments throughout the series. The biggest guarantee was for the €10,350 ($11,045) buy-in Main Event, with a prize pool of €5,000,000 ($5,336,000). However, the tally passed that mark on Friday and continued to increase until the final number of 817 entries generated a prize pool of €7,761,500 ($8,283,073).
The champion will receive the gold bracelet and a top prize of €1,500,000 ($1,602,701). Last year’s WSOPE Main Event held the record with 763 entries, with Omar Eljach picking up the win and €1,380,128 ($1,418,280) along with his second bracelet.
Federico Brunato, Director of Poker at King’s Resort, said in a statement, “We sincerely thank each and every one of you for choosing to be a part of WSOP Europe at King’s Resort. Your game and emotions were the highlight of this wonderful festival. Special thanks also to our great staff and WSOP team for their invaluable contribution and hard work.”
The Main Event’s Day 3 begins at noon local time on Monday, November 13, as the final 191 players battle to make the top 123 and take home at least €16,500 ($17,608). Keneshka Kabir, Andrea Radicchi and Alexander Tkatschew enter the day as the chip leaders, with other notable pros such as defending champion Eljach (663,000), Adrian Mateos (885,000) and Viktor Blom (700,000) hoping to come away with the top prize.
The top players after Day 3 will return on Tuesday, November 14, and play until the champion is crowned on Wednesday’s final day.
