The move comes in response to ongoing efforts to find and remove cheats on the platform
WPT Global has taken firm action against cheating on its platform by banning dozens of accounts and redistributing over $166,000 to affected players. The enforcement spans five months, from January to May 2025, and is part of the operator’s broader initiative to promote transparency and fair play in online poker.
The platform, which ranks as the second-largest online poker network worldwide, published a new section on its website under the title Game Integrity: Recently Banned Accounts. This page outlines WPT Global’s anti-cheating efforts and provides internal user IDs of 50 accounts that were permanently banned for rule violations.
Although the banned users are not publicly named, the network confirmed that every dollar seized from those accounts—totaling $166,000—has already been returned to impacted players. Violations ranged from the use of third-party software and data mining tools to collusion and other prohibited behavior.
In a statement accompanying the update, WPT Global reiterated its strict approach, saying, “We maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward the use of third-party software, data mining, collusion, and any other forms of cheating to ensure a fair playing experience.” The operator also emphasized ongoing investments in security to safeguard its player base, stating it will continue to strengthen detection systems and audit gameplay to maintain the integrity of its games.
This latest action reflects a growing trend among major online poker operators to increase transparency around cheating enforcement. By disclosing enforcement activity and compensating affected users, WPT Global is taking visible steps to reassure its community that it prioritizes fairness and competitive integrity.
The company’s decision to make these measures public could also set a precedent for other operators in the industry, potentially raising the bar for accountability in the broader online poker ecosystem.
