The upcoming WPT tournament series will include events specifically for women players
The World Poker Tour (WPT) will have another opportunity to prove they appreciate women in poker at its upcoming December festival featuring a $250,000 guaranteed women’s tournament. The $1,100 WPT Ladies Championship will be held from December 6-8 at the Wynn Las Vegas. The live-streamed event guarantees the winner a six-figure prize.
“We greatly appreciate the incredible support of the players who participated in last year’s Ladies Championship and are looking forward to an even bigger event this year,” declared WPT CEO Adam Pliska in a press release. “We salute the many woman pioneers in this industry and are happy to be part of meaningful events that support our continued admiration.”
The first WPT Ladies Championship in 2022 drew 578 entries, generating a prize pool of $560,660, with Lina Niu taking the title and a $105,136 prize. Club WPT has already given away ten seats to the Ladies Championship earned in WPT’s Ladies Meet-Up Games (MUGs), which will continue on December 8 with the Ladies Mimosa MUG tournament starting at 9 AM.
The WPT Ladies Championship is just one of the events at the WPT Championship festival running from November 29 to December 23 at the Wynn Las Vegas, featuring a full schedule of events with buy-ins ranging from the $600 opening tournament to the $1 million WPT Big Drop.
The featured tournament of the series is the $10,400 WPT World Championship, with a record-breaking $40 million prize pool beginning on December 12.
The WPT will also host a players’ party at AREA51 on December 11, reserved for anyone registered in the WPT World Championship, Prime Championship, or Ladies Championship event, to give participants a memorable night at the WPT’s expense. DJs Fergie, Sub Zero, LEFIH and Max Styler will provide the entertainment.
