Phil Ivey stops in to play a few hands and make some memories
Phil Ivey, regarded as one of the greatest poker players in history, made a rare and memorable appearance at a World Poker Tour (WPT) Christmas Meet-Up Game (MUG) held Tuesday at Wynn Las Vegas. Fans of the game had the unique opportunity to compete with the 11-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner and WPT Champions Club member in a friendly, low-stakes setting.
The holiday-themed event was part of the ongoing WPT World Championship festival, which has been drawing thousands of players to the Wynn over recent weeks. Ivey joined the action at $1/$3 and $2/$5 No-Limit Hold’em tables from 9 a.m. to noon, creating an exciting and approachable atmosphere for both poker enthusiasts and seasoned players.
Joining Ivey were other prominent figures in the poker community, including WPT Global ambassadors Brad Owen and Ethan “Rampage” Yau. Owen, a well-known poker vlogger with a massive YouTube following, added to the festive spirit by handing out “Bradley Dollars” to participants. Fans also got to interact with other poker personalities, including vloggers Jaman Burton and Mariano Grandoli.
The Meet-Up Game concept, developed by Andrew Neeme and Owen, brings casual players and poker celebrities together in a laid-back environment. This particular gathering included appearances from WPT commentators Jamie Kerstetter, Tony Dunst, and Lynn Gilmartin. Even Matt Savage, the WPT Executive Tour Director, joined in the fun, donning a Santa Claus outfit to spread holiday cheer.
For fans, the event was more than just an opportunity to play cards—it was a chance to create memories with their favorite players in a festive and relaxed setting. Between the holiday spirit and the star-studded lineup, the Christmas MUG proved to be a highlight of the WPT World Championship festivities.
