The remaining players will take home at least $290,000 each
The $1,100 World Poker Tour (WPT) Prime event at the WPT World Championship series is down to the final six players, who made it through a record-breaking 10,516 entrants to play for their cut of the $10,196,640 prize pool.
These are the players that will be in front of WPT’s cameras at the Wynn on Tuesday, December 19:
Twenty-five-year-old Jay Lu of Los Angeles has less than $50,000 in career winnings and is guaranteed at least $290,000 for making the final table. He is the current leader with 77 big blinds.
Calvin Anderson is second with 62 big blinds, and is the biggest threat at the table. He has big cashes in several major events, including winning the 2018 WSOP $10,000 Razz Championship for $309,220.
Close behind him is Bob Buckenmayer, who has 48 big blinds. The 79-year-old has had deep runs in various tourneys, including finishing 39th in the 2015 WSOP Main Event. “I know what I need to do in every spot, and I just do it,” he said to the WPT.
Jon Glendinning is fourth with 28 big blinds and will move beyond his best career cash of $192,000 by making this final table.
Valeriy Pak is next with 25 big blinds and has earned over $1 million in career tournament cashes.
Finally, Aaron Pinson enters the final table with 24 big blinds and $250,000 in career cashes and says he’s amazed at his situation. “I’m kind of thoughtless right now,” he said. “It’s a lot of money. I’m trying not to really even grasp it, to be honest, until it’s over.”
In a week, they’ll be in front of the cameras to battle for the $1,386,280 first prize.
