Another massive poker tournament series is in the books
The Venetian Las Vegas wrapped up its DeepStack Championship Poker Series on July 31, featuring nearly $14 million in guarantees across the dozens of available events. After 27,489 entrants competed in the month-long event, that number was shattered as a total of $27,391,509 in prizes was awarded in the Venetian Summer Series.
Valeriano Toledano was one of the players claiming a title during the series, winning $183,859 (Event #36: $2,500 NLH DeepStack Championship), David Gutfreund won $110,533 (Event #38: $1,600 NLH Seniors), Chin Wei Lim took home $115,331 (Event #44: $1,100 NLH UltimateStack). Danny Chang claimed a $29,460 prize (Event #46: $800 PLO 8/B).
Stephen Sola had a good run, taking down two tournaments at the end of the series ($9,396 in Event #71: $500 NLH EpicStack and $8,000 in Event #74: $500 NLH EpicStack). The $2,500 NLH Mystery Bounty featured 671 players to spawn a $1,516,460 prize pool, with $671,000 reserved for mystery bounties.
Ultimately, Thomas Boivin of Belgium claimed the trophy and $136,792 in prize money, along with $57,000 in bounties, after beating Israeli Ran Shahar heads-up. The win puts Boivin over $5 million in live earnings and moves him into second on the country’s all-time money list.
Two hundred seventy-three women entered the $500 NLH LIPS Ladies Event on June 28, battling for a share of the $115,206 paid to the top 35 players. Mikiyo Aoki of Montana was the winner, taking $20,317 after her heads-up deal with Dusti Smith of Texas.
Anthony Spinella won the $300K GTD $1,600 NLH Monster Bounty on June 27 and the $66,157 first-place prize after defeating Andrew Tang heads-up. His ninth recorded victory put him over $4.4 million in career live earnings.
