In a riveting combination of online and physical gameplay, Sam Soverel emerges victorious yet again, claiming his second World Series of Poker (WSOP) gold bracelet. This exclusive tournament, a $5,300 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em high-roller event, blended digital prowess with tangible skill, attracting 408 participants. The stakes soared high, but for his unparalleled performance, Soverel reaped a substantial reward of $393,516, further bolstering his earnings that now approach $22.1 million.
The tournament commenced this past Monday. The opening day started on the digital platform WSOP.com, granting access exclusively to players in Nevada and New Jersey. By the end of this virtual session, the original group of 408 individuals had been significantly reduced to a mere six competitors.
Two days later, on July 6, at noon, the final six contestants reunited in person at the Las Vegas Horseshoe to resume their gameplay. During the online phase, Soverel, known as ‘ApesSonIMHO’ online, had emerged as the outstanding frontrunner, a title he carried into the live portion.
By the time the number of players had dwindled down to just four, Gergely’ wildace_hun’ Kulcsar found himself as the only player ahead Soverel in terms of chip count. However, Soverel managed to increase his stack further by defeating Aleksejs Ponakovs, a two-time bracelet winner, to take the lead.
Finally, with only Soverel and Kulcsar still at the table, the eventual winner didn’t let up. On the last hand, Kulcsar laid himself out in hopes of pulling down a flush, but missed. With nothing more than Ace high, Soverel, with an impressive 67 six-figure cashes, took the title, the money and the jewelry.
