The WSOP is going to invest Martin Kabrhel over cheating allegations

Tournament officials will try to determine if he marked cards, as some players claim

David Schoen of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that Martin Kabrhel is currently under scrutiny by the World Series of Poker (WSOP) regarding alleged fraudulent activities that occurred during the $250,000 Super High Roller No-Limit Hold’em competition. Kabrhel secured the third spot in the competition and managed to accumulate $2.3 million as a reward for his impressive performance. However, some have accused him of cheating in the process, and the WSOP is taking a closer look.

While the event was underway, Andrew Robl, a familiar player in the poker world, caused a stir with his tweet expressing his belief that Kabrhel was skillfully manipulating the cards. This led to a strong wave of disapproval among spectators and participants alike.

In brazen violation of the rules, Kabrhel abruptly rose from his position during a pivotal phase of the game. This act raised an uproar, as standing up can allegedly give a cheating player a better vantage point to see the other players’ cards, which he had marked.

The WSOP said in a statement, “While we do not discuss specific security protocols used to monitor players and gaming equipment, the integrity of the game remains paramount, and we can assure fellow patrons that we are taking these allegations very seriously. As this is an ongoing investigation, there is no further comment on the matter at this time.”

Dan Smith, who secured sixth place in the tournament, wants severe punishment for Kabrhel for his inappropriate conduct. Nevertheless, Smith stopped short of directly accusing him of cheating.

Kabrhel, an experienced participant on the WSOP tournament circuit, boasts an impressive achievement with two WSOP Europe bracelets. Accumulating $7.6 million in earnings throughout his career, the recent payout he received on Sunday marked his second-highest to date.
