Jeremy Ausmus ships the tournament and becomes the PGT Player of the Year
Jeremy Ausmus capped off an incredible year by winning the PokerGO Tour $1,000,000 Championship Event, securing a $500,000 top prize. This victory came just a day after he was named the 2024 PokerGO Tour Player of the Year, having accumulated $6.49 million in earnings across 27 cashes throughout the season.
Ausmus entered the high-stakes tournament as the points leader on the PokerGO leaderboard, granting him the largest chip stack among the 40 players who earned seats through their season-long performance. An additional 10 participants joined through various promotions and contests, rounding out the field for the two-day event held at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas.
The final table featured six seasoned players, including Nick Schulman and Dylan Weisman. Ausmus started as the short stack on day two but skillfully climbed the ranks. Key moments included eliminating Calvin Anderson in third place and navigating a heads-up battle against Schulman. In the decisive hand, Schulman’s bluff with a missed straight draw couldn’t beat Ausmus’s two pair, sealing the victory.
This win was the latest highlight in a stellar year for Ausmus. Notable achievements included a second-place finish in a $100,000 buy-in event at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) for nearly $1.9 million and a third-place showing in the $300,000 Super High Roller Bowl IX for $1.2 million. His total career tournament earnings now exceed $24.6 million.
As the Player of the Year, Ausmus also received a $50,000 bonus, adding to his accolades for the season. The 45-year-old poker pro from Las Vegas credited the leaderboard system for motivating his consistent participation and success, likening it to a competitive challenge that fueled his drive to excel.
