The non-stop summer of poker tourneys continues
While the grind of the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) has come to an end, the fun isn’t over. From July 20-23, Thunder Valley Casino Resort, just north of Sacramento, CA, will play host to the $600 buy-in, $500,000 GTD The Hendon Mob Mid-Major Championship.
The Hendon Mob is partnering with the three-time winner of the Best Mid-Major Poker Tour, the RunGood Poker Series (RGPS), which is holding its last “Checkpoint” season event at the Thunder Valley venue. The series’ final event is the $2,500 buy-in $1,000,000 GTD RGPS Checkpoint Million Dollar Main from July 28-31.
Eric Danis, President of the Hendon Mob and Global Poker Index, said, “The Hendon Mob Mid-Major Championship is our way of acknowledging the vital role mid-major tournaments play in the poker ecosystem. We believe over time, this championship will become a must-attend event for poker enthusiasts worldwide.”
2022 GPI Mid-Major Player of the Year Stephen Song finished atop the leaderboard with 3,573.72 points, mainly due to his victory last December at the WPT Prime Championship. He will be in attendance at the Thunder Valley event.
RGPS provided a prize package valued at over $2,000 for last year’s Mid-Major Poker Player of the Year, which included a hotel, airfare, a gift card, and the buy-in for the Hendon Mob Mid-Major Championship, which it will also provide for the 2023 winner.
Five starting flights will be featured at the 2023 Hendon Mob Mid-Major Championship, beginning at Noon on Thursday, July 20. Two flights start at 10 am and 4 pm on Friday and Saturday, with the remaining players returning on Sunday at Noon to determine a champion.
For those looking to win a lower buy-in, several $120 buy-in satellites will be available.
