The poker tournament features a number of celebrities from different fields
Global Poker launched its first-ever Celebrity Challenge, beginning with the Paul George Celebrity Campaign, which ran from September 19 – October 1. Starting today, poker players will have a chance to play against another NBA star in the Karl-Anthony Towns Celebrity Campaign running through October 15. Global Poker players have a chance to play with KAT through a series of featured Sweeps Coin qualifiers.
Towns is also challenging former Olympic champion Michael Phelps to a heads-up poker battle, with the winner donating $10,000 to their favorite charity. Towns says he has experience playing with George and was excited to go heads-up against Phelps, the 28-time Olympic swimming medalist.
“Besides being able to spend time with good friends, poker is a competitive game that gives you an adrenaline rush much like basketball,” said Towns in a press release. “With poker you must make quick decisions and always be aware of everything that is happening around the table.” He added that “Global Poker allows me to play poker during my downtime, (particularly) when I’m on the road.”
Eight Karl-Anthony Towns Sweeps Coin Qualifiers will be featured through October 10, where players can win tons of exclusive Global Poker gear signed by the NBA All-Star as they compete for a seat at the Karl-Anthony Towns Celebrity Challenge Final on October 11.
The lucky players who qualify for the final will clash against Towns and each other for a chance to play in the Global Poker Celebrity Challenge Grand Final in November, where they’ll compete against Towns, George, Phelps and DJ Khaled.
