South Korea’s Jin Hoon Lee takes down the $1,500 Mystery Millions event
The World Series of Poker (WSOP) Paradise has crowned a champion at the Atlantis Resort in The Bahamas as Jin Hoon Lee outlasted 3,446 entries from five starting flights to take Event #1: $1,500 Mystery Millions for the biggest slice of the $5,169,000 prize pool of $420,000. After starting the final day eighth in the chip count, he navigated the remaining 34 players with just 14 big blinds but played a very disciplined game and chose his battles well on his way to the title.
Hyunsup Kim would be the first player eliminated among the nine at the final table after pushing in his short stack, taking home $51,000. Davidi Kitai fell in eighth place for $64,000 after losing a flip, followed by India’s Kartik Ved in seventh for $80,000. After about another hour of play, Thomas Santerne was the next to fall, taking home $101,000 for sixth place.
Drew Scott was the next player sent home after the runout had him in the lead until the river card fell, earning $127,000 for fifth place. Konstantin Maslak would take fourth place for $160,000 after going all-in with a dominant ace and getting no help.
Maria Ho had held a big chip lead entering three-handed play but found herself short-stacked and would go home in third place after pushing all-in against Lee to earn $200,000.
Lee had about a 3:1 chip lead vs. Max Pinnola ($257,100) heads up, who would come back to take the lead after several hands. However, Lee’s dominant cards would hold up in the final hand, securing his first WSOP bracelet after an exciting final table.
