The EPT Monte Carlo Super High Roller event is currently reshaping the all-time money leaderboard
The ongoing EPT Monte Carlo Super High Roller has officially become the most expensive live tournament in the history of the tour. With a €250,000 (US$292,451) buy-in, this event has attracted the most elite players in the world to the French Riviera. The stakes are particularly high as the results could determine a new leader for the all-time money list in professional poker.
This tournament marks only the second time the tour has hosted an entry fee of this magnitude, following a similar high-stakes event in the Bahamas back in 2023. A total of 38 entries generated a massive prize pool, with 14 players successfully navigating their way to the second day of competition. Christopher Nguyen currently holds the chip lead with over 1,000,000 in tournament currency, followed closely by veteran players Artur Martirosian and Alex Kulev.
The field remains incredibly dense with talent as high-stakes regulars like Isaac Haxton and Mikita Badziakouski continue their pursuit of the title. The structure of the tournament ensures that only the top six finishers will receive a payout, with the minimum prize set at $651,000.
The most compelling narrative involves the direct battle between Bryn Kenney and Stephen Chidwick for the top spot in global earnings. Kenney currently maintains a lead of roughly $3.3 million over Chidwick in career winnings.
While Kenney finished the opening day with 540,000 chips on a single entry, Chidwick was forced to utilize a second $250,000 bullet after an early elimination. If Chidwick manages to secure the first-place prize of $3,212,000 he could potentially overtake Kenney to become the most successful tournament player in history. The runner-up is also scheduled to take home a significant sum of over $2 million as the competition concludes.
