The tournament offered a prize pool of almost $3.5 million as high-rollers descended on Cyprus
The 2024 Super High Roller Bowl Series $100,000 Main Event in Cyprus concluded with Maksim Vaskresenski taking home the victory. The event, held at the Merit Crystal Cove Hotel and Casino, attracted 35 entries, creating a substantial prize pool of $3.43 million. Vaskresenski, a Polish poker player, claimed the top prize of $1.25 million, marking the biggest win of his career and pushing his total tournament earnings to nearly $2.1 million.
Before this event, Vaskresenski’s most significant cash came from a sixth-place finish at the Triton Jeju stop, where he earned $337,000. His performance in Cyprus was a significant step up, showcasing his growing prowess in the high-stakes poker scene.
The tournament saw several notable players competing, including 2024 Poker Hall of Fame inductee Patrik Antonius, who unfortunately finished just outside the money. The top five finishers all walked away with at least $280,000, with Artsiom Lasouski being the first to cash out after his pocket sixes couldn’t hold up against Adrian Mateos’ pocket nines.
Adrian Mateos, a four-time bracelet winner, continued his impressive year by making his third consecutive final table in the series. Despite his strong showing, he was eliminated in fourth place, earning $420,000. Mateos’ deep run added valuable points to his already commanding lead in the 2024 Player of the Year race.
Brian Kim, another well-known figure in the poker world, finished third, taking home $610,000. This latest cash pushed his career earnings close to $9.6 million, further solidifying his position as one of the top players in the PokerGO Tour standings.
The final showdown between Vaskresenski and France’s Thomas Santerne was intense, with both players holding nearly even chip stacks. However, Vaskresenski quickly gained the upper hand and eventually secured the win with Trip Kings in the final hand. Santerne, who had $4.4 million in lifetime earnings before this event, took home $870,000 as the runner-up.
Vaskresenski’s victory at the Super High Roller Bowl Series Main Event marks a significant milestone in his career, setting the stage for future successes in the high-stakes poker circuit.
