Texas poker pro took down the $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em event for $252,000
Andrew Moreno’s steady rise on the live tournament circuit continued at the Poker Masters in Las Vegas, where he claimed his first-ever PokerGO Tour title. The Texas-based pro outlasted 101 entries in Event No. 3, a $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em tournament, to earn $252,000 and a long-awaited breakthrough victory on the high-stakes stage.
The win marked Moreno’s third title of 2025 and pushed his career tournament earnings past $6.2 million. His biggest payday remains the $1.46 million he collected for winning the 2021 Wynn Millions, but this latest performance adds another highlight to an already impressive year that includes 10 final table appearances.
The event drew a prize pool of just over $1 million, with 15 players reaching the money. Notable finishers outside the final six included Kristen Foxen, Stephen Song, and Victoria Livschitz. By the start of Day 2, six players returned to the PokerGO Studio, with Sam Laskowitz holding the chip lead and Moreno sitting in the middle of the pack.
John Riordan was the first casualty, followed by Matthew Wantman, who ran pocket tens into Moreno’s higher pocket pair. That pot moved Moreno into strong contention, setting the stage for the deeper battles to come. Jeremiah Williams exited in fourth place, leaving Laskowitz, Brian Batt, and Moreno to chase the title.
Moreno knocked out Laskowitz in a dramatic hand where his ace-king of diamonds improved to the nut flush, eliminating Laskowitz’s straight and flush draws. The third-place finish added to Laskowitz’s hot streak this month, but the momentum was firmly in Moreno’s corner heading into heads-up play.
Holding a near 4-to-1 chip advantage over Batt, Moreno pressed his edge. Fittingly, the final hand saw him make another flush with jack-eight of diamonds, securing the title as Batt settled for $171,700, the largest score of his career. Moreno, meanwhile, celebrated his first PGT trophy and another milestone in a standout year.
