The state’s gaming regulator has confirmed that the launch is imminent

Pennsylvania is making strides toward joining the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA), potentially opening its doors to cross-border online poker play in early 2025. This development could allow Pennsylvania poker players to compete in larger player pools and enjoy enhanced gaming opportunities alongside participants from other MSIGA states.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) has confirmed that the state has been officially invited to join the compact. The board is currently awaiting formal paperwork for review.

Once received, the state will evaluate the agreement, make any necessary amendments, and ensure all legal and regulatory requirements are met before moving forward. PGCB Communications Director Doug Harbach indicated that a launch is anticipated in the first quarter of 2025, barring any significant delays.

MSIGA, initially established in 2014 between Nevada and Delaware, now includes New Jersey, Michigan, and West Virginia. Pennsylvania, with a population exceeding 13 million, would become the sixth and largest state to join, significantly boosting player pools and competition across the board.

For operators like PokerStars PA, BetMGM Poker PA, and WSOP PA, this move presents a unique opportunity. WSOP, for instance, could expand its tri-state network—currently connecting New Jersey, Nevada, and Michigan—to include Pennsylvania, creating a groundbreaking four-state network. This would allow Keystone State players to participate in prestigious online bracelet events and larger tournaments.

Before operators can merge Pennsylvania’s player base with other states, several steps remain. The compact must be signed by Governor Josh Shapiro and approved by regulators, a process that the PGCB expects to be completed in time for the 2025 World Series of Poker.

Pennsylvania’s entry into MSIGA represents a long-awaited breakthrough for online poker enthusiasts, promising a more competitive and vibrant gaming environment.
