The series is now underway, with players starting to warm up for the main event
The Mid-Atlantic Poker Open at Live! Casino and Hotel Maryland is gearing up for its highlight event, the $2,200 Main Event, set to begin on Friday, January 31. This highly anticipated tournament features a guaranteed prize pool of $500,000, drawing attention from poker enthusiasts across the region.
Players will have two opportunities to enter the tournament, with opening flights scheduled for January 31 and February 1, both starting at 11:15 AM local time. Competitors who advance through the initial flights will return on Sunday, February 2, for Day 2 action. If needed, a final Day 3 will take place on Monday, ensuring the ultimate champion is crowned.
The event builds on the success of last year’s Main Event, which saw 303 entries and a total prize pool exceeding $593,000. That tournament concluded with a three-way deal between Matt Zambanini, Justin Liberto, and Nick Verderamo. Zambanini walked away with the top prize of $105,000, while Liberto and Verderamo each claimed $88,000.
This year’s Main Event serves as the centerpiece of a series that has already offered over $1 million in prize pools. The festivities began with a $400 buy-in opening event that attracted 202 entries and generated a prize pool of $67,468. Additional highlights include a $220 Mini Main Event, which ran from January 26-28, and a Women’s Event scheduled for January 30, featuring a $300 buy-in.
Poker fans can look forward to live coverage from the Main Event, with updates and photos capturing the action from the tournament floor. With its robust schedule and impressive guarantees, the Mid-Atlantic Poker Open continues to solidify its place as a premier event for players and spectators alike.
