Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland will host the series, with over $1 million in prize money available
The Maryland State Poker Championship is set to return to Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland this August, offering players nearly two weeks of high-stakes competition in one of the East Coast’s top poker venues. Scheduled from August 27 through September 8, the tournament series will span 13 days and feature 22 events with more than $1.1 million in total guaranteed prize pools.
Now in its seventh year, the championship continues to expand, adding more game formats and tournament options for a growing base of amateur and professional players. The series will include Texas Hold’em, Omaha, and 7-Card Stud, appealing to a diverse poker crowd and promising bigger fields and payouts.
One of the standout events on the schedule is the Labor Day One-Day tournament, which offers a $100,000 guarantee for a $500 buy-in. The series will conclude with the marquee Main Event, a $2,200 buy-in no-limit Hold’em tournament featuring a guaranteed prize pool of $500,000.
Christopher Angelo, Director of Poker at Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland emphasized the event’s growing popularity and the venue’s continued commitment to hosting high-quality poker tournaments. He noted that last year’s championship surpassed expectations by paying out over $1.6 million, well above the guaranteed amounts. With more events and game variants on this year’s schedule, organizers expect even larger turnouts and prize pools.
The Poker Room at Live! offers a premium playing environment with 50 tables across two levels, a private bar, and amenities like in-room massage services. The facility is part of a full-service resort that includes table games, high-limit slots, and upscale accommodations, making it a destination for both serious players and casual fans.
With rising interest and a packed schedule, the 2025 Maryland State Poker Championship looks set to attract another strong showing from across the region.
