19 poker events are on tap, with over $600,000 up for grabs
Live Casino & Hotel Maryland has just announced it will host the 2023 Maryland State Poker Championship a week from now. The 19-event tournament will run from August 9-22 at the Live Casino & Hotel Maryland poker room.
The series kicks off with the $400 buy-in $20,000 HORSE Championship and continues with daily events until the $1,100 buy-in $50,000 guaranteed event beginning on August 21. The $1 million guaranteed main event with a $5,300 buy-in commences on August 18, with the final table set for August 22. Live Casino Maryland did well by keeping small and mid-stakes players in mind when planning the series, giving them a chance to win six-figure guaranteed tournaments with three-figure buy-ins.
A couple of No-Limit Hold’em events, including a $600 buy-in tournament with a $500,000 guaranteed purse starting the first of five flights on August 10 and a $100,000 guaranteed $360 buy-in event with four flights starting on August 14. This year’s schedule also offers a broader mix of games than previous series.
Last January’s winner in the version of the $600 event took home almost $50,000, and last year’s $2,200 headline event attracted twice the $300,000 guarantee with 344 players. Jimmy Born took the title, winning $119,000 after cutting a deal with Nicholas Verderamo.
Special events this year include the $330 buy-in $20,000 guaranteed Ladies Championship beginning on August 13, a $500 buy-in $50,000 guaranteed Seniors championship for players 50 and older on August 15, and a $400 buy-in $10,000 guaranteed Super Senior event for players 60 and older beginning on August 17.
Live Casino Maryland’s 52-table poker room always has a full slate of scheduled tournaments and runs daily satellites for selected series events.
