This year’s event attracted 1,141 entries, easily surpassing the $2 million guarantee
The $3 million guaranteed 2024 BetMGM Poker Championship recently wrapped up after attracting a record 1,141 entrants, including over 150 online qualifiers, to create a record $3.6 million prize pool. The $3,500 buy-in No Limit Hold ’em event also smashed last year’s $2 million guarantee to surpass $3.2 million. Leo Taffe took down the 2023 title, securing the $560,442 winner’s purse.
“The BetMGM Poker Championship is quickly becoming a summer staple for Las Vegas poker players as we, once again, showed notable growth,” said BetMGM Director of Poker, Luke Staudenmaier. “A sincere thanks to all participating players as well as the highly skilled and professional ARIA staff. We look forward to returning bigger and better in 2025!”
After five days of play, the field was narrowed down to seven players at the final table. Daniel Maor used his huge chip lead to dominate the field, including Ethan “Rampage” Yau, Shannon Shorr, and Eric Baldwin. He also knocked out five of the six remaining players to secure the title and $613,914.
According to the Hendon Mob, this score was Maor’s largest tournament cash, increasing his career earnings to over $1 million. “I mean, obviously, it feels great to win $600k, especially at a final table like this,” said Maor following the victory. “I mean you have guys that have millions in earnings and have guys with 15 to 20 years at the top of the game. To beat a guy like Shannon Shorr heads-up is not an easy feat, so, yeah, it feels great.”
