The poker room previously shut down because of COVID-19
After a lengthy closure due to the pandemic, the Hollywood Casino Hotel & Raceway has officially reopened its poker room. The announcement comes as exciting news for poker enthusiasts in the state of Maine, as this marks the return of the only live poker room in the region.
A significant overhaul has transformed the space. According to Hollywood Casino’s Director of Marketing, Alton Buzzell, the casino has invested heavily in modernizing the poker room. “We’ve completely revamped the space, removing the old Racebook to create a dedicated poker environment,” Buzzell explained. “Additionally, we’ve integrated the latest technology, including the Bravo Live poker app, which allows players to book seats, check table availability, and view game options. This is a game-changer for our poker community.”
The poker room is currently open Thursday and Friday from 2 PM to midnight, and Saturday and Sunday from noon to midnight. Players can enjoy three tables, with a fourth table set to open soon. To accommodate the increased demand, the casino has hired new poker dealers while also cross-training staff from other table games.
Buzzell expressed optimism about the future of the poker room, stating, “We believe this reopening will not only benefit our guests but also contribute to the overall success of the casino. By offering a variety of amenities, including dining and entertainment options, we aim to create a comprehensive and enjoyable experience for our patrons.”
As the poker room settles into its new operation, it is expected to draw in both seasoned players and newcomers alike, revitalizing the local poker scene and contributing to the overall economic growth of the area.
