The Station Casinos property will be one of the few offering poker around Vegas
Station Casinos has announced that poker is making a comeback at Green Valley Ranch in Henderson. The property will relaunch its poker room in December, nearly four years after it was shut down during the COVID-19 pandemic. Located about 15 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip, the new room will feature 16 tables, slightly fewer than the 22 it had before closing.
The poker room will operate around the clock, offering both cash games and tournaments. Players can expect Fixed-Limit Hold’em, No-Limit Hold’em, Pot-Limit Omaha, and Omaha Hi/Lo. Its return means Henderson locals and visitors will again have access to live poker in a setting that sits next to the resort’s sportsbook.
Once reopened, Green Valley Ranch will join 18 other poker rooms across the Las Vegas area. The number has dwindled dramatically over the past decade, falling from more than 60 in the early 2000s to fewer than 20 today. The closure of Poker Palace Casino’s room on October 1 will drop the count further, leaving Green Valley Ranch’s return all the more notable for the local poker scene.
Casinos often hesitate to reopen poker spaces once converted, since slot machines generate significantly more revenue per square foot. Poker, unlike other casino games, provides little direct profit to the house, relying instead on rake from cash games or tournament fees. This makes Green Valley Ranch’s decision stand out.
Management cited customer feedback as the driving force behind the move. “We took our guests’ feedback loud and clear and are pleased to announce the return of poker, among the many exciting upgrades happening at the property,” said General Manager Ken Janssen. The reopening comes amid a $200 million remodel of the resort.
With this move, Station Casinos will now operate poker rooms at Boulder Station, Santa Fe Station, Red Rock, and Green Valley Ranch, strengthening its footprint in the local live poker market.
