The casino company has big poker plans for its Toronto presence
Gaming and hospitality firm Great Canadian Entertainment seeks to make its new Toronto casino a hub for poker aficionados with the report that the new facility is open.
The Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto poker room has 30 tables running 24 hours daily. It also promoted the introduction of a bad-beat jackpot, funded by extra rake from every qualifying hand at participating poker rooms, including Elements Casino Brantford and Great Blue Heron Casino & Hotel.
“The poker room is a testament to Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto’s commitment to meeting the diverse interests of the poker community,” declared Michael Kim, executive vice president of Great Canadian Entertainment. “The fully operational poker room and the introduction of the bad-beat jackpot are just the beginning of many things to come at the resort.”
The poker room welcomes novice and experienced players, offering limit and no-limit tables with varying stakes. Semi-private spaces are available for high-stakes games. There’s also a dedicated bar, electronic slots, and several table games for players to enjoy while waiting for a seat. Larger poker tournaments are set to soon be introduced.
The $1 billion Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto contains a 328,000-square-foot gaming area with more than 4,800 slots and 145 table games. It’s one of North America’s largest casinos and the biggest in Canada.
The new gaming facility is next to Woodbine Racetrack, near the Highway 401 and 427 interchange. The Vegas-style resort also has a 5,000-seat entertainment venue, a 400-room hotel and various on-site restaurants.
